It will be two years since there was an in-person Ski for Light (SFL) event when we had 16 participants on Team Texas attending the 2020 SFL Event in Casper, Wyoming. Then the first-ever virtual SFL event in 2021 helped keep us all connected and participating in fitness and other activities. Now, we are so ready to get back on the snow and are looking to send an even larger Texas contingent to the 2022 SFL event. We are also hoping to have some of our mobility impaired friends join us this year.
The kickoff meeting of the 2022 SFL Team Texas was held on August 17, 2021. First, we shared highlights from the first ever virtual SFL International Event that occurred this past January. Then, we discuss plans for participating in the 2022 SFL International Week, scheduled for January 30 to February 6, 2022. The 2022 SFL event will return to Granby, Colorado. We will both ski and stay at Snow Mountain Ranch, part of the YMCA of the Rockies, located near Winter Park. Several Team Texas members shared their personal experiences at previous SFL events.
Snow Mountain Ranch offers ninety kilometers of wide and wonderfully groomed Nordic trails for all skiing abilities from novice to expert. In keeping with Ski for Light tradition, we will end the week with the Olav Pedersen Race/Rally and enjoy the customary array of many off-snow activities throughout International Week. Registration is now open – the registration form as well as additional info about the 2022 Ski for Light Week may be found at the following link: http://sfl.org.
